Is iPhone will beat Mac in 2009?
It is believed that Apple iPhone business soon would become profitable as its Mac one. Analyst Shaw Wu, of American Technology Research, predicts that the iPhone can bring Apple about $ 20 billion in revenue each year, according to Macworld.
The book notes that customer’s buy Wu owns shares of Apple value of $ 220.
Although he considered driving success, Wu noted several shortcomings with regard to new applications are concerned. One example is AOL, which aims to implement times in a few minutes of inactivity. Shaw Wu claims “its better that it reduces connection with the cellular network, but often requires returns if the user is not fair continuous interaction.”
Many analysts predict that Apple will sell large shipments of 3G iPhone units, and thus came to Wu, whose forecasts see Apple sell 11 million iPhones this year for a total of 14.6 million shipped by the end of 2008 and 17 million next year to 31.6 million by the end of 2009, Macworld piece reveals. Wu said: “We believe that there is still room for AAPL to exceed our forecast as the expanding product portfolio, new carrier agreements, and continued with the unlocked devices. For every 1 million units, partially iPhone, we estimate $ 0.10-0.15 in incremental EPS, recognized in eight quarters. ”
Wu and his team of researchers and expect to see an acceleration of the adoption iPhone “in the second half of 2008, and then with 3G, and expanded product portfolio, the additional carrier relationships, native Exchange support and more applications.” Wu concluded, saying that “iPhone is relatively small contribution to today’s only 3-4% of revenue,” but that American Technology Research believes that “has the potential to become a very significant driver for the next 2-5 years.”
“We envision iPhone one day more and more business from current Mac (~ $ 15-20 billion in annual revenue),” analyst Shaw Wu wrote in his note to investors.
